Norman

Norman was surrendered alongside his siblings as part of an unwanted litter. While his litter mates flourished and found loving homes, Norman had a few red flags. His fosterers noticed that he wasn't growing at the same rate as the other kittens, that he was having digestive problems and while most of the time he was a normal bouncy kitten he would have days where he would hide away and be lethargic. We took Norman to the vets to find out whether there was an underlying issue causing some of these problems and they suspected he may have a liver shunt, a defect some cats are born with and other develop later in life. After a specialist imaging scan we found out that Norman had a completely abnormal liver, something that even the imaging specialist had never seen before. This essentially means that rather than cleaning toxins out of his body, Normy's system recirculates them, sending toxins all through his tiny system. The vets advised that while they could try and operate, the operation itself would be a risk and the chances a problem this complex could be fixed were slim. We took the decision to make sure Norman's life, no matter how short, would be filled with love, care and fun. He is now on medication that helps manage his condition and while he does still have bad days, he spends most of his days wrestling his best friend Flash, causing mischief and getting tons of cuddles. Norman will live with his foster family for as long as he has left and is living every day to the fullest.
