Day 59 - forever fosterer found

Tui may be a chunky old boy with a worn out heart but in his mind he's still a kitten and loves nothing more than to play - and is obsessed with food and anything that twinkles. When he was rescued, he was very overweight, his lungs were filling with fluid and he'd suffer from gurgling coughing episodes which told us his heart was sadly in failure. We thought he didn't have long left. However, after veterinary examination (not his favourite past-time) he was put on a cocktail of diuretics, blood thinners and pain-killers which swiftly freed him from the fluid in his lungs and pain from his arthritic back legs. That was back in June 2020, but through regimented medicine, monitoring, a lot of love (and a very gradual diet), he's bounced back and is getting up to lots of mischief with his palliative foster carer. Tui is very affectionate and so if this chunky boy wants to cuddle (especially at 3am when you're in the deepest sleep) - he will bury his head into your neck, and with a purr that could wake the dead - will lick you til you wake up to administer cuddles. He is also in love with his 'wormy'... (a toy once attached to a rod but soon detached through a particularly enthusiastic playtime) ... Tui will carry his wormy around in his mouth like a security blanket...chirping happily from room to room. Tui also considers himself somewhat a feline Pavarotti, he loves the sound of his own voice so enjoys sitting in the bathroom (fully tiled for best resonance) where he can wail his little song at ample volume and gets a real kick if his foster mummy replies for a verse or two. Its easy to forget he's end-of-life as he's so full of life - but sometimes his little ticker can falter if he gets overexcited (usually chasing reflections of light off things across the wall or attacking his latest favourite fascination (the Christmas tree). Although it's uncertain how long he has left - what can be certain is that he will not be abandoned again, he will know he is safe and will be played with and cared for and smothered with love til his little heart finally gives out.
