Hi! My name is Rebecca, and two years ago I adopted a bonded pair of cats from another rescue Both were black and one-eyed.. One had a left eye, and one a right.. it was my first time being a cat owner and I couldn’t have imagined having friendlier kitties! Carrot gives me kisses and loves rubbing his face against mine. Cucumber, however, is the neediest boy on earth! He paws me for attention and is joined at my hip. Unfortunately, he likes my boyfriend more than me but they’re very cute together and it’s nice to get a night of uninterrupted sleep once a week 😂 As the two year mark approached, knowing my kitties were seniors, I knew I needed to get some younger cats (as I can’t face the thought of being cat-less). After hours of scouring social media, I came across a gorgeous three year old kitty called Nelson— who appeared to be a one-eyed black boy! I thought he’d be a perfect fit after reading he needed the company of other cats… and what better cats to live with than mine?! Upon visiting him and bringing him home (I decided to call him Cabbage), I was slightly concerned as he seemed rather upset, spending his days howling around the house. His “missing eye” was weeping yellow fluid, so I let the guys At Forgotten Felines know and sent a photo. Immediately, they arranged an appointment at their Vets for me to take him to🥰 We discovered an infection in that area, so he was prescribed antibiotics and eye drops… After finishing these courses, he returned to the vet— we discovered there was an entire malformed eye in there! The Vets decided it needed to come out. About a week later, he was booked in for his Ennucleation. I’m so happy the guys at Barrmore Vets listened to me and took his case seriously. The surgery went FANTASTICALLY- and Barrmore fell in love with his polite demeanour. Even though he came home with a cone on and full of medication, he was a brand new cat that day. His crying stopped and he suddenly became super affectionate! I’m sad to think how much he must have been hurting. Since then, he’s been the sweetest and most polite boy on earth. His eye (or lack of) is completely healed up, and he’s a kind, playful boy ❤️ I’ve noticed my other cats are rather oblivious to social cues, and will try to steal each others’ food, but Cabbage lived on the streets for a couple of years, which is where I’m guessing he picked up his manners! Since Cabbage’s arrival, I’ve acquired another one-eyed cat, who I called Cauliflower. She’s my first girl and you can tell! Her and Cabbage are bonding really well, and getting closer and closer to each other by the day! They sleep right next to each other 🥰 All four of my kitties have their own spot on my bed… it’s a tight squeeze, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you, Forgotten Felines!!!!!
